Look no further than one investor who exemplifies hard work, determination, and the will to be undeterred from his distractors. Charles L Oglesby from Southern California has made a beeline into the millionaire status club from high level marketing, building multiple businesses that range from vending machines, investment groups, real estate, online courses, mobile barber shop, as well as business mentor for those around him.

To say that Oglesby is an overnight success is a stretch to say the least. His profile grew during the Covid pandemic from launching a successful stock option course that taught trading fundamentals at an affordable price. By under cutting the competition and giving many a chance to learn effective techniques to earn money from the market, he gave many an opportunity that would have normally cost them thousands to learn at a fraction of the price. But Oglesby had been putting in high efficiency work rates before the pandemic that allowed his profile to shine the instant he was given the chance. In college, he was the leader of his chapter, organizing multiple parties, fundraisers, African American leadership groups, all while graduating with honors from Cal State. He later continued his studies by obtaining his law degree from Western State and then his MBA from Pepperdine. In between time, the devoted husband worked many side jobs while developing Todd Capital, often spearheading the investment group, and buying multiple properties while teaching the importance of wealth preservation and capital accumulation. After creating multiple courses from business development to finding undervalued assets, he also created high visited Instagram and twitter accounts that promoted healthy black ideologies that focused on marriage, faith-based principles and the value of money and hard work.

1. All gas, no brakes

a. As you can tell from above, nothing stopped Oglesby from being successful. While each of his ventures made him different amounts of income, the one that stuck the most was the option course. It came at a time when many were at home and looking for way to create multiple income. The part that stands out to us is that he had created courses after that course that had initially built more steam than the most famous course. But this picked up traction as many bought his course and raved at the return on investment they received, often earning the cost of the course 10x after their first trade.

2. Prosperity Mindset

a. This actually should be number one. During the times his income was low, he would work odd jobs from uber, to doordash, to other quick income generating options. Even with his accolades earned through education, he never let the odd jobs deter him from his greater glory. In past podcasts, he would preach about how even though these jobs were “beneath him” it was his hard work and dedication that would power him through to eventually obtain the wealth he knew he was destined for. Staying away from things he knew were not going to bring him wealth, Oglesby sought to stand above the crowd as much as possible, from wearing suits to his college classes, to creating an alias called Todd Millionaire that forced him to shed his shy persona into a confident individual, even when he didn’t always feel like it.

3. Ignore the noise and hone in on your investments

a. During the downturn of the pandemic, Oglesby was on the front line of those demanding that you buy the heavy dip in March 2020. Investing in stocks like Carnival and Simon property groups, many saw those as bad investments due to losses of revenue at the time. But what Oglesby saw was an industry that would soon make its return once life normalized. And as soon as it did, he received a 7x on investment and placed it in high dividend paying stocks. It was an investment that would make Warren Buffett proud. There were many detractors who saw his investment/trade as unwise, but he stayed with his conviction and was rewarded handsomely.

4. Give Often

a. The statement “there are 24 hours in a day” is one you can apply to Oglesby. As a devoted husband and father, he is able to run multiple companies due to the dedication to his craft. But the thing that stands out is his willingness to give. Whether it is a business principle or an indication to his faith, Oglesby is constantly giving to his community, his family, and other to seek his advice on multiple topics. This has caused many in his circle to become successful.

5. Value over Speculative plays

a. Not one to jump into random plays, Oglesby is known to preach about purchasing the boring stock. There is a method to his madness. Most “boring” stocks are well proven and typically provide high dividends. For example, one stock in his current portfolio is Icahn Enterprises, or IEP. The stock of legendary investor Carl Icahn, they provide an outstanding dividend of 14.91% as of the time of this reading. This heavily traded stock is one you wont hear at barber shops or on wall street bets, but the research and the conviction he found in this stock is what led to Oglesby investing in this long time company. He tends to stay away from the “hot” trend stocks and stick to the proven companies known for quality.
